Scotty’s Brewhouse to open in Plainfield and expand into Ohio

Just after opening the Scotty’s Dawghouse location on the Butler University campus, Scott Wise said today that his latest Brewhouse location will open in Oxford, Ohio, in mid-August on the Miami University campus. A Plainfield restaurant, to be located inside Plainfield Village, is scheduled to open in October.

Scotty's Brewhouse will open its first Ohio location on the Miami of Ohio campus.

Both restaurants will feature the traditional Scotty’s Brewhouse food menu, full service bar with 24 draft beers and will join the other Brewhouse locations in carrying beer from Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company. Thr3e Wise Men, also owned by Scott Wise, is a family-friendly restaurant and brewing facility serving homemade thin crust pizza, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers. There are two current Thr3e Wise Men locations: in Broad Ripple, where the brewery is located, and a second location that opened in December in Muncie.

“When I first opened Scotty’s in 1996, I always wanted to open on Miami’s campus,” Wise said in a release annoucing the new locations. “We visited a lot in college, and as a Ball State alum, we always competed against them in MAC sports. I’ve heard people call it a ‘little IU.’  And it really does have a lot of the same characteristics in the beauty of the college and town. Timing never worked out and other opportunities always got in the way so Oxford was always kept on the list of ‘future growth.’

“The future is finally here with our 18th restaurant,” said Wise, president and CEO of a Pots & Pans Production, the management company for Scotty’s Brewhouse, Scotty’s Brew Club and Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co.

“My restaurant is the ‘anti chain chain,” said Wise. “We run our company with the mindset that every location will be unique, individualized and run with the professionalism of a large company, but, the feel and atmosphere of a ‘mom and pop’ restaurant.  We embed ourselves in the community and are actively involved in charities, philanthropic endeavors and community service.  It is important to me not only as a restaurant owner; but, as a father of four trying to raise my children with a philosophy of doing good in our world and making a positive impact in our communities we reside.”

This year marks the 20th anniversary in business for Scotty’s Brewhouse. Wise opened the original Brewhouse in 1996 in his hometown of Muncie. With the opening of the Oxford and Plainfield locations, the company will now have 18 locations in the Midwest and Florida.
