Indy’s canal district just keeps getting better. Not only is Burgerhaus opening, but the area is also getting a coffee shop.

Quills coffee

According to a recent release, Louisville’s Quills Coffee will open its first Indianapolis café in November at 9 on Canal, the same development that includes Burgerhaus.

Founded in 2007 by Nathan and Amy Quillo and Nathan’s brother, Gabe, the award-winning Quills focuses on roasting ethically sourced, seasonal specialty coffees. Quills has three cafés in the Louisville area, including its roastery, which is located in downtown New Albany.

Quills has been featured in Imbibe, Garden & Gun and Fresh Cup magazines and was select by Louisville Magazine as the city’s best coffee shop. In 2014, Quills became the first Kentucky coffee company to compete in the United States Barista Championship.

The Canal District café will feature a full espresso menu, manually brewed filter coffee and an assortment of locally baked pastries.
