Find some bargains at Woodruff Place Flea Market

I love the Woodruff Place Flea Market. I’ve found some great stuff there over the years: furniture, books, a cool lamp and a kitchen stool with fold-out steps that we used literally until it fell apart. One year, we had our eye on a gumball machine, but weren’t willing to pay the asking price for a machine that needed work, (although we did make an offer).

You can’t really go with an agenda, because you never know what you’ll find. Some years are heavier on furniture; other years you might spot a lot of power tools. And because most Woodruff Place homeowners do a fair amount of fix-ups, you can usually find plenty of spare doors, windows, old cabinets and light fixtures.

But I’m always on the lookout for cool kitchen stuff. Last year, I brought home a particularly good haul, including an excellent waiter’s corkscrew, a gadget that certainly gets a workout at our house.

The Woodruff Place Flea Market is June 7-8 and runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. — Jolene Ketzenberger
