Celeb chef Alex Guarneschelli headlines this weekend’s Fantastic Food Fest at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The food expo will feature demos by Guarneschelli, an Iron Chef, a regular judge on Chopped and executive chef at Butter in New York City. (I’ll have an interview with Guarneschelli on Eat Drink Indy Radio this Satuday; be sure to listen at 11 a.m. on WFYI HD2 or at wfyi.org.) Demos by Guarneschelli will be on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the Chef’s Stage.
Former Indy resident Loreal Gavin of Next Food Network Star will be at the Fantastic Food Fest as well, as will Rachael Ray’s Kids Cookoff participant 12-year-old Sabrina Richard, and local MasterChef contestant Tanorria Askew. Indy chefs Steven Oakley, Ben Hardy, Tyler Herald, Ryan Nelson, Craig Baker, Hattie McDaniel, Anass Sentissi, Tina Jesson and Tanya Marshall will participate as well, as will blogger Heather Tallman of Basilmomma.com.
And there will be plenty of exhibitors to check out, including a booth by Jungle Jim’s International Market of Cincinnati, the fest’s most recent announcement. All sorts of restaurants and food-related businesses will be on hand, many with food samples available for purchase. Cooking classes are available as well. The event runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 21 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 22. Tickets to the fest are available online or at the door; VIP tickets, which include plenty of extras, are also available.
