Ember Urban Eatery serves up solid options

I stopped in at Ember Urban Eatery for lunch today, and was happy to see the cheery, 60-seat restaurant, located at 435 Virginia Ave., nearly full. Rob and Shelly Odendahl have, with the help of local restaurant scene veteran Tom Main, created a pleasant little spot that seems to fill a niche in the Holy Rosary neighborhood for a straightforward menu of well-made American fare.

Sandwiches (burgers, chicken, brisket, grilled cheese and lunch-sized pasta dishes) are mostly under$10, and dinner entrees (chicken, brisket, pork chops and a steak, along with a couple of vegetarian pasta options) top out at $16.50. The two-for-$20 Devour Downtown lunch menu included a cup of soup (today it was a very tasty cream of spinach) and a sandwich and side. Our table tried the classic burger and the brisket sandwich, both of which will likely prove popular.
