Greenwood will be getting a craft cocktail bar when Bar Rev opens at Main Street & Madison Avenue in Old Town Greenwood this weekend. Adam Hayden, who you’ll recognize from the Libertine Liquor Bar, will be running Bar Rev, which is located in the six-month-old Revery restaurant.
“Everybody has been really enthusiastic,” said Hayden, who has also been busy wrapping up his master’s degree in philosophy. “To the credit of Mark and Danny, the chefs and owners here, they put exciting things on the menu, and guests have responded by ordering those. They’re doing great, exciting, interesting things with food, so I think they’ve already developed a trusting relationship with guests, and people are excited to see what’s next.”
And that is Hayden’s menu of classic cocktails, which, as he points out, really fits with the historic building, one that dates from the 1800s.
“We’re trying to create a different experience with Bar Rev,” he said. “So they know that at Bar Rev we’re sort of delivering on that modern speakeasy experience. The building that we’re in is an 1861 building, so there’s a lot of history.”
Bar Rev opens to the public on Thursday, March 26.
They hosted a preview dinner this week at The Legend featuring some of the new menu items, such as a scallion and corn cake appetizer, a roasted grape panzanella salad, a butternut squash sandwich with spinach and goat cheese and a salmon dish with lentils and roasted cauliflower.
And in other coming-soon news, Nourish Innovative Local Cuisine & Cocktails will be opening this spring at 931 S. East St. near General American Donut Co.
