Bacon + pizza + wine = dinner at Jockamo

Now here’s a wine dinner that’s definitely not stuffy. Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza will be hosting a $30-per-person wine dinner Feb.24 at its Greenwood location at 401 Market Plaza. Pizza…wine. Sounds good, right?

Did I mention the menu is called “An Ode to Bacon?”

Jockamo will be sampling the wines of Goldschmidt Vineyards to complement what general manager Josh Smith called “an entirely bacon-inspired menu.”

From bacon jelly to bacon and crab dip to chocolate-covered bacon, the much-loved meat will make plenty of appearances. And why not, said Smith. “I love bacon,” he said, “and as an ingredient, it ┬ácan be the star of the show, as well as a great accompanying role too. I love that I’m able to be as creative with the menu as possible and try and use ingredients found in our kitchen.”

The menu includes an appetizer of scratch-made jambalaya plus entrees of smoked gouda apple melt with bacon jelly, pesto BLT and bacon and crab dip pizza. But don’t miss dessert — it’s caramel bread pudding topped with chipotle and chocolate-covered bacon.
